Letters We Didn't Write Together is a collection of 24 game poems and 7* original illustrations.

What's a game poem?

A game poem is a poem, an invitation and sometimes instructions, too. Some game poems might ask you to do something in real life. Some might help you create stories. Some might give you instructions that you can't really follow, but you can imagine doing. Some might look like rules, but hide something else instead.

There are people who like to call game poems "lyric games." That's a good idea, too.

Most of the works in this collection are intended as solitary experiences, but there are three that invite friends: a 3 player game called Our Home By the Sea, a 4 player game called The Wood, and another piece called Apples.

The following items are included in this collection:

  • One (1) 28 page, black-and white PDF, available as single pages or spreads.

Some works in this collection are gentle, and some are dark. Each game poem is marked with a butterfly or a mushroom to indicate which tone you can expect.

Thank you to everyone who supported this work. This one is personal.

*🚧 This collection is still being updated! 🚧
In Fall 2024, a new version will be uploaded that includes:

  • Ten additional illustrations.
  • One audiobook, where the author (hi) reads the poems to you instead of you reading them to yourself.
